I’m challenged by something this week and it’s caused me to look deep into my own life to learn what kind of person I am. It’s really all about giving…or getting, I guess it depends on your view, but I’ve had two people tell me about things they “won” or received as gifts. One person was given an ipad 2 for completing a job for his employer before the deadline. The other, received a gift card to be able to take his son to see the movie “Avengers.” I would consider both of those things blessings even though they are material things. I ask the person who won the ipad what they were going to do with the ipad they already had (I’m in need of a tablet). They said they were going to sell the new one and use the money to put toward the purchase of the newest ipad. Ok? The person who received the movie gift card said that they had a bad experience at the movie theater and they were reimbursed for all there expenses and then some. I asked what he was going to do with the new gift cards (I’ve been wanting to see “Avengers” in IMAX 3D). He says that I could purchase the gift cards for their exact value. I ask “how does that help me?” He didn’t seem to care. Now the point is not that I was trying to get something for nothing, but the point is, if I was given a double portion of blessing, what would I do with it?? Would I be like these two people and try to “gain” from my extra blessing or would I give it away willing to receive whatever blessing came in it’s place?? It’s my belief that God will always give us a better blessing than the one we just received if our heart condition is in the place of giving. What are your thoughts??
